The RC7S design consolidates a number of individual cell monitors into one mounting kit. With a central design this puts an extra burden on the wiring to each cell. Take care to ensure that the cables are not unnecessarily long and that their routed path is safe in its normal operating state and in a critical fault. Do not combine the connecting cell cables prior to connection to the cell. Both the positive and negative leads need to remain separate to each cell to allow the modules to automatically compensation for the impedance of the wire. Do not extend the cables with a larger wiring gauge, the design has adopted a fine gauge 24-26AWG wiring deliberately to add safety. The example is that were they to become physical damaged (i.e crushed, yanked, vehicle accident, tool dropped, etc.) they will behave as a fusible link.
Typically the cabling installation is the weakest point to a BMS hence take extra care. Where possible adopt a local individual cell monitor to avoid the need for a complex wiring loom.
Additional boards can be daisy chained together for additional cell requirements.
Communication will receive from the 2pin RX port and send via the 4pin TX port to the next block. The port will only require signal path (blue / yellow) and not they power pins (red/black). If the power pins as supplied these can be removed.
Cellmons modules are interchangeable, each variation is designed to suit the unique form factor of the battery focused on ease of installation and enable robust operation. New modules can be developed on request as required.
